I SEE DARKENED WINDOWS

Dear ones, these are much more abbreviated message notes than usual, because I want you to click on the link to our sermons, just to the right of this entry. Then you will hear God’s and my heart much more clearly than these notes can ever reflect.

“I See Darkened Windows”

What are You showing me? How can it be? How can it be? I see darkened windows in Your church, O Lord.

1 John 5:10 The one who believes in the Son of God  has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has  made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.  11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us  eternal life, and  this life is in His Son.  12  He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

Life (zoe 2222) – Life as God has it, eternal, and not just when we get to heaven but here and now!

ONLY in the Son

John 14:6 Jesus  said to him, “I am  the way, and  the truth, and  the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

His life, given by Him abundantly. If you have life in the Son, you have His light.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (NIV) “‘til it overflows” (Amplified).

His life? The light of men

John 1:4  In Him was life, and the life was  the Light of men.

A light that shines upon them, a beacon in the darkness, a light not yet in them, but they can see it!

Only one thing to do — run or come into it (John 3:19-21)!

John 3:19 “This is the judgment, that  the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for  their deeds were evil. 20 “ For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 “But he who  practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

Have you run from the light because you like the sin you’re doing, or have you come into His light?

His light — overpowers the darkness

John 1:5  The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not  comprehend it.

If you have His life, you have His light

Matthew 5:14   “You are  the light of the world. A city set on a  hill cannot be hidden; 15  nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a  basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may  see your good works, and  glorify your Father who is in heaven.

But if the light in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! (see Matthew 6:23)

I’m looking out, Lord, and I see a dark church with no lights in her windows! Deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons lurk within (see 2 Timothy 4:4). You are deceiving yourselves (1 Corinthians 3:18) by relying on man’s wisdom and reasonings rather than God’s truth and thus, you are walking in sin and darkness. As He showed me, your windows are dark because you have not entered into life in the Son, and therefore you do not have His light shining from you!

Will you test yourself to see if you are in the faith?

2 Corinthians 13:5 Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith;  examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you — unless indeed you fail the test?

We are deceived by our own hearts into thinking that we have life in the Son when there is still darkness in us.

Jeremiah 17:9   “The  heart is more  deceitful than all else
And is desperately  sick;
Who can understand it?
10 “I, the LORD,  search the heart,
I test the  mind,
Even  to give to each man according to his ways,
According to the  results of his deeds.

But:

Jeremiah 17: 14  Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed;
Save me and I will be saved,
For You are my  praise.

Will you ask Him to heal you? He will! Then you will be able to say with Jeremiah, “You are my praise! I have come to do Your will, O God (Psalm 40:7)! Whom have I in heaven but You, and besides You I desire nothing on earth (Psalm 73:25)!”

Will you let God’s very words judge your heart so you won’t be deceived by it, so that you will know that you have life in the Son, and that His light is shining from you Who, by His life in you, makes you the light of the world, the city on a hill?

Or is it that you are like Ahab, who did not want to hear from God’s prophet when Jehoshaphat asked for a prophet of God rather than the deceitful prophets of Baal? His words, from 2 Chronicles 8:17, were “Did I not tell you that he [Micaiah, the prophet of God] would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”

God’s prophets are speaking to the church today, and many of us receive an Ahab-like response. We don’t want to hear it. We want to hear good prophesied about us, regardless of our spiritual destitution.

Will you let God’s very words judge your heart? It’s already laid open and bare before Him. Will you agree with Him if there is darkness in it?

Hebrews 4:12 For  the word of God is  living and  active and sharper than any two-edged  sword, and piercing as far as the division of  soul and  spirit, of both joints and marrow, and  able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.  13 And  there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are  open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

Let these words of God judge you so you will know whether you have His life, His light, His love in you:

1 John 2:4 The one who says, “ I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a  liar, and  the truth is not in him;  5 but whoever  keeps His word, in him the  love of God has truly been perfected.  By this we know that we are in Him:  6 the one who says he  abides in Him  ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.

Are you disobedient or obedient? Can you truthfully say you walk in the same manner as Christ walked? If you can, praise God, for you have life in the Son and His light emanates from you. If you can’t, ask Him to give you life in the Son!

1 John 2:9-11 The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his  brother is in the darkness until now.  10  The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him.  11 But the one who  hates his brother is in the darkness and  walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

If there is darkness in you, He is here to make your blind eyes see so you know where you are going! Do you love your brother with agape (Greek word the early church used to describe God’s actual love that is unlike any form of human love)? Has God’s actual love filled your heart to overflowing? Then you have life in the Son, you walk in His light and His light shines from you into the darkness.

Or do you hate and backbite and devour? If God’s love is in your heart, you cannot hate your brother. If you hate, you are in darkness. You do not have life in the Son.

Agape is the love the Father has for the Son, and it is what Jesus prayed for us to have in our hearts in John 17:26!

1 John 2:15   Do not love  the world nor the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  16 For all that is in the world,  the lust of the flesh and  the lust of the eyes and  the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.  17  The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who  does the will of God lives forever.

Are you conformed to the world or the Spirit? Do you love the things of the world and sniff at giving them up? What God has for you, and what He COMMANDS for your own good, is that you not be conformed to the world. If His agape is in your heart, then His Son is in your heart, and you do not conform to the world.

Go and look these up for yourself: 1 John 3:4, 8, 10, 15 and 3:3, 6, 7, 9
Are you sinning, or do you have a pure heart? Do you rebel against God, or love Him with His love?

1 John 3:24 The one who  keeps His commandments  abides in Him, and He in him.  We know by this that  He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Does He abide in you? Obedience and agape are the evidence!

Look this up . . . 1 John 4:15-18. Do you fear judgment, or do you know that you will not be judged because the witness of the Spirit has made you cry, “Abba! Father!”?

This confession, I must speak of and explain, from verse 15 — “confess” is homologeo (3670) and it is not just mouthing words at an altar.

It means we are akin, we are kin of the King, we are in a covenant with God the Father and God the Son and therefore obedient because His Spirit possesses our hearts entirely. We are like Him. Are you?

1 John 5:11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us  eternal life, and  this life is in His Son.  12  He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

His life . . . abundantly

His light in you

Like lights in the world (NIV stars in the universe), holding forth the word of life (Philippians 2:16).

Are your windows darkened, or is the light of Christ in you?

He shows you this, He gives you this word through me today, that you may cry out for life in the Son, that you may have His light in you, that your windows no longer be darkened.

My heart and the heart of Jesus Christ is to see individual churches (you and me) and His church buildings filled with His glory (see Isaiah 60:1-3), with His life, with His light, so light radiates from your body’s windows and the windows of the church. Ask Him to make it so in you! Confess your sin, let this word judge the thoughts and attitudes of your heart, so you may be healed!
