WATCHMEN NEVER KEEP SILENT

O, Lord, I cannot keep silent, for I love Your church! You have filled my heart with Your love, and so I love her as You do!

[SW081] 02/24/2013 message notes by Rev. Susan J. Wynn ©2013
“Watchmen Never Keep Silent”

Isaiah 62:1   For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet,
Until her  righteousness goes forth like brightness,
And her  salvation like a torch that is burning.

Not only for Israel, God’s people, but also for the Church
whom He chose to be the bride of Christ!

The Lord appointed me as a watchman for the Church,
so I cry out to her, I sound the trumpet for her —
and I know her repentance will affect Israel.
May they become jealous of her!

For her sake I will not keep silent.
I will speak and speak
until    her righteousness goes forth like brightness,
dawn, radiance, shining —
until she is right full of Your glory, Lord Jesus!

For her sake I will not keep silent. I will speak and speak until
her salvation goes out like a burning torch
her deeds of deliverance —
powered by the Deliverer, Jesus Christ —
burning and consuming not for death,
but for cleansing and purifying.
A consuming of everything in us that is not of God.

Isaiah 62:6   On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed  watchmen;
All day and all night they will never keep silent.
    You who  remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves;

O Lord, I will not rest.
I will continually remind You (2142)
I will continually remember You,
confess You and celebrate You,
be mindful of You,
boast in You,
invoke You,
appealing to You
and calling on You in prayer.

For as a watchman, I not only sound the trumpet,
warning the Church,
but I intercede for her, I am part of her,
I am a bridge between You and her, O Lord.

She is primarily prayerless,
separated from You by her sin,
and so I pray on her behalf.

Isaiah 62:7 And  give Him no rest until He establishes
And makes  Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

O Lord, I will give you no rest, no quiet.
I will continually loudly and passionately petition You,
even as I warn Your Church.

I will give You no quiet until You establish her,
make her stand up, perfect her,
and make her ready —
and make her and Jerusalem a praise in the earth, O Lord!
Isaiah 62:10   Go through,  go through the gates,
    Clear the way  for the people;
Build up, build up the  highway,
Remove the stones, lift up a  standard over the peoples.

O Lord, I go through the Church’s gates
I clear the way,
I build up the highway —
the highway of holiness (Isaiah 35:8)!
I remove the stones that block their view of You,
I lift up a banner of holiness to Your people!

Now I build up the highway,
with stones of truth,
bulldozing the false teaching that plagues you, O Church.

The Lord says to me:

Ezekiel 33:7   “Now as for you, son of man, I have   appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a  message from My mouth and give them  warning from Me.  8 “When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will  surely die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require from your hand.  9 “But if you on your part warn a wicked man to turn from his way and he  does not turn from his way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have  delivered your life.”

If I do not warn you, O Church,
to turn from your wickedness,
you will die in your iniquity,
and  the Lord will require your blood from me!
Your blood will be on my head,
if I do not faithfully declare the whole purpose of God!

You will say, “That is Old Testament.”

Hear the words of the Spirit-inspired Paul:

Acts 20:18 And when they had come to him, he said to them . . .“You yourselves know,  from the first day that I set foot in  Asia, how I was with you the whole time,  19 serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials which came upon me  through  the plots of the Jews;  20 how I  did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly and  from house to house,

Acts 20:26 “Therefore, I  testify to you this day that  I am  innocent of the blood of all men.  27 “For I  did not shrink from declaring to you the whole  purpose of God.

Like Paul, I do not shrink (5288) from telling you the truth.
I do not cower or draw back.
By the power of the Holy Spirit,
I declare to you that which is for your good!
I solemnly testify of repentance toward God,
and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ!

So I am innocent of the blood of all men,
for I am shouting from the rooftops
what He has whispered in my ears.

There is great cowardice in much of the Church in America today —
our leaders and congregations seek to please men and tickle ears!
There is no repentance, nor is it taught.
And without repentance,
there is no salvation.

All this is evidence of unbelief —
the greatest sin the Church commits.

We are afraid that messages about sin and repentance
will drive people away FROM US!!!

But such messages
will draw people TO CHRIST!!!
Our thinking is completely opposite to God’s!

And so, I declare:

Ezekiel 33:10   “Now as for you, son of man, say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus you have spoken, saying, “Surely our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we are  rotting away in them;  how then can we  survive?”’  11 “Say to them, ‘ As I live!’ declares the Lord  GOD, ‘I take  no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked  turn from his way and live.  Turn back, turn back from your evil ways! Why then will you die, O house of Israel?’

You say it is hopeless — you cannot stop sinning.
He says, “Turn from your way and live!
“Why then will you die?”

It is not hopeless,
but you must agree with Him that you still willfully disobey Him
and ask Him to cleanse your heart!

Why must your heart be purified?

Ezekiel 33:12 “And you, son of man, say to  your fellow citizens, ‘The  righteousness of a righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his transgression, and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will  not stumble because of it in the day when he turns from his wickedness; whereas a righteous man will not be able to live  by his righteousness on the day when he commits sin.’

Ezekiel 33:13 “When I say to the righteous he will surely live, and he so trusts in his righteousness that he  commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but in that same iniquity of his which he has committed he will die.

O Church,
many of you are trusting in the words you said at an altar
but you have not laid yourself out on the altar
that the Lord may alter you!

You have not offered yourself
as a living sacrifice
holy and pleasing. (Romans 12:1)

You conform to the world,
and you are not transformed
by the renewing of your mind! (Romans 12:2)

The Lord says you will die
if you trust in what happened at that altar
and yet continue to willfully disobey God.

Ezekiel 33:17   “Yet  your fellow citizens say, ‘The way of the Lord is not right,’ when it is their own way that is not right.  18 “When the righteous turns from his righteousness and  commits iniquity, then he shall die in  it.  19 “But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and practices justice and righteousness, he will live by them.  20 “Yet you say, ‘ The way of the Lord is not right.’ O house of Israel, I will judge each of you according to his ways.”

Do you say the Lord is wrong?
Do you say you should live,
regardless of what you do in disobedience to Him?

O Church, you will be judged by the Lord
each of you according to your ways!

Turn, O Church, while there is still time!
If you do, none of your sins will be remembered against you (v. 16).
If you don’t, none of your righteousness will be remembered (v. 13).

O Church, you cannot have both holiness
and unholiness
come from you:

James 3:10 from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.  11 Does a fountain send out from the same opening both  fresh and bitter water? 12  Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce  fresh.

But if you will turn, O Church, here is God’s promise to you — Isaiah 35:5-10!

If you will heed the sound of the trumpet today,
from this watchman on the wall:

Isaiah 62:2 The  nations will see your righteousness,
    And all kings your glory;
And you will be called by a new  name
Which the mouth of the LORD will designate.
3 You will also be a  crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD,
And a royal  diadem in the hand of your God.
4 It will no longer be said to you, “  Forsaken,” [old name]
Nor to your land will it any longer be said, “ Desolate”; [old name]
But you will be called, “ My delight is in her,” [new name!]
And your land, “  Married”; [new name!]
For the  LORD delights in you,
And to Him your land will be married.
5 For as a young man marries a virgin,
    So your sons [next generation] will marry you;
And as the  bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
So your  God will rejoice over you.

Amen! Amen! Amen, O Lord! Truth. So be it. Let it be so.

ENTWINED WITH THE LORD

Entwined with the Lord —  I pray the Lord Jesus will make the truth of this message something you’ll want to wrap yourself up in.

[SW080] 02/17/2013 message notes by Rev. Susan J. Wynn ©2013
“Entwined with the Lord”

Lord, being entwined with you is EVERYTHING, and from the entwining, all ministry to others flows!

But what or who is most of the church entwined with?

First, entwined with the Lord. Then, His answer.

Psalm 40 —

Oh, yes! I wait patiently for You, Lord.
Not a “looking at my watch” kind of waiting.
No, no.

I waited patiently — I intently entwined myself (6960) with the Lord, binding myself together with Him!

Waiting, I waited, the Hebrew-to-English direct translation says.

And you know what happened?
He stretched Himself out, He bent down to me,
He extended Himself, He offered Himself to me —
first, on a cross of wood,
and now, in a glorious union of our hearts, His and mine!

I am boasting with David! It is good to boast in the Lord!

He brought me out of the pit of destruction,
out of the mire (dung) I had lived in all my life,
and set my feet on the ONLY foundation, HIM!!!
Talk about firm footsteps — I walk in His!!!!

And the song I sang to Him to begin this message?
One of many new songs He has put in my heart.
I awake singing to Him,
For He has bent down low
And picked me up out of my birth blood,
And cleaned me, inside and out!

And because of this,
because of what I boast He has done in me,
many will see and fear,
many will see His mighty power,
many will revere Him and give Him glory.
Many will trust in the Lord,
and no longer trust in man.

HALLELUJAH!

When I entwined myself with Him,
He opened my ears.
He pierced them with an awl (Exodus 21:6).
He made me His bondservant,
serving Him not out of duty,
but out of His very love poured out in my heart!
I am His servant for life,
for the sake of the lives of many
who will see and fear!

My ears You have opened, O Lord!
All my natural offerings were nothing to You.
When I said “Here I am,” You accepted that offering,
and brought down the fire of the Holy Ghost
as a sign of Your great pleasure!

I delight (2654) to do Your will, O God!
I make myself soft and pliable,
I incline, I bend,
I desire out of the prompting of my heart
which You have filled with Yourself
and Your love!

That’s what it means to have Your law written in my heart —
Your law is done not out of i-dotting and t-crossing,
but out of love, Your love, filling even me!!!

Doing Your will is NEVER work — it is rest!
Why? Because I am not working,
You are!

Oh, my!
I have proclaimed Your glad tidings of righteousness
in the great congregation!
They are glad tidings indeed!
I have not hidden Your righteousness,
or Your faithfulness
or Your salvation from SIN,
or Your lovingkindess for offering it,
or Your truth.

But strangely, many do not rejoice to hear it,
just as Israel did not rejoice when You sent your prophets.

Psalm 37:4  Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will  give you the desires of your heart.
5  Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
6 He will bring forth  your righteousness as the light
And your judgment  as the noonday.

Delight (6026) yourself in the Lord!
There it is again!
Become soft and pliable in His hands.
Let the Potter have His way!

Then what?
He will give you the desires of your heart,
because He will have made your desires
the same as His desires.

Commit (1556) your way to Him!
Lay rolling and wallowing in His way!
Get low — it is grand!
Wallow in His ways,
get them all over you!

Wallow in Him until,
in a moment of time,
you are filled up with Him,
filled with His righteousness and light!

The Lord issues a rebuke:

Isaiah 40:27    Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel,
“My way is  hidden from the LORD,
And the  justice due me  escapes the notice of  my God”?
28  Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The  Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth
Does not become weary or tired.
    His understanding is  inscrutable.
29 He gives strength to the  weary,
And to him who lacks might He  increases power.
30 Though  youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous  young men stumble badly,

I have to stop here, O church in America.
Your sin is not hidden from the Lord.
You are not wallowing in His ways, but man’s.

He’s not weary or tired.
He’s watching you.
He understands what is in your hearts.

When you grow weary and tired,
you reveal you are working from your own strength,
or you would not grow weary and tired.
Think of Paul! Out of his strengthlessness,
God’s strength was revealed.

All your earthly vigor
can do nothing.
and you will stumble (3782)
you’ll stagger, you’ll totter,
your downfall will come.

But the Lord also issues a promise:

Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who  wait for the LORD
    Will  gain new strength;
They will   mount up with  wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.

Those who wait (6960)
those who entwine themselves,
who bind themselves to Him
will gain something new (2498 — a change of ability)
new strength (3581 – HIS power)!!!

Then, entwined with Him,
you will no longer be weary,
you will no longer tire and fall down.

Why does the church fall as they do, Lord?

And why is it that many in today’s church in America
do not rejoice to hear Your very good news
of deliverance from sin,
just as Israel did not rejoice
when You sent your prophets?

Here is what the Lord says:

It is because of what some of My people are entwined with.

Some are of a different spirit.
Theirs is the spirit of the world.
Thus, they are entwined with the spirit of the world.

What are the marks of the spirit of the world in a human, Lord?

Man’s ways and wisdom are exalted,
instead of My ways and My wisdom.

They see My ways as foolish and unproductive,
and would rather follow Peter Drucker’s Management By Objectives,
and 40 days of this,
and twelve steps to that.

I am an instantaneous heart-changer,
says the Lord!

But that means mankind must acknowledge
their hearts need instantaneous changing.
It is foolishness to them,
“Impossible!” they scoff.

I am the Rock,
and yet,
most of the church in America builds on sand.

Therefore, I will send a storm
to reveal all foundations.

I asked the Lord, and posted on Facebook:

What would happen if ear-candy preachers and 10-step preachers and 40-day preachers and Management By Objectives preachers suddenly stepped up to the pulpit and preached like You, Lord Jesus?

Here is My preaching, He says:

Matthew 16:24   Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and  take up his cross and follow Me. 25 “For  whoever wishes to save his  life will lose [622 utterly destroy] it; but whoever loses [622 utterly destroys] his  life for My sake will find it.”

Matthew 5:29 “ If your right eye makes you  stumble [4624 entrapping you and enticing you to sin], tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you  to lose one of the parts of your body,  than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”

There will be a mass exodus from those who have been pampered and petted,
but some who have ears to hear will stay and get set free,
says the Lord —

Set free from slavery to sin, O church! Free, indeed!
John 8:34   Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you,  everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. 35 “ The slave does not remain in the house forever;  the son does remain forever. 36 “So if the Son  makes you free, you will be free indeed.”

That’s what I’m praying for, every moment of every day.
Freedom in the house!
Then the works of God and not man will be done,
and the world will take notice
that we have been with Jesus!

In the name of Jesus,
I rebuke the spirit of the world
that has so infiltrated the church in America!
Open eyes, Lord!
    Open hearts, Lord!
For you will pour Your Spirit into such ones,
And nothing they ask for will be denied them,
for they will no longer ask in the spirit of the world,
but in YOUR HOLY SPIRIT!

Amen, Lord. Truth. So be it. Let it be so!

WORLD-COLORED GLASSES

Most of the church looks at Jesus through world-colored glasses. The effect is the same as looking through the wrong end of a pair of binoculars. Jesus is miniaturized so that He neatly fits into our comfort zones. Lord Jesus, have mercy and break our world-colored glasses so we see you as you are — the miracle-working, supernatural Son of the one true God! Amen.

SIN IN THE CAMP

Even one individual’s sin affects the whole camp. Therefore, the whole camp can’t stand against Satan.

[SW079] 02/10/2013 message notes by Rev. Susan J. Wynn ©2013
“Sin in the Camp”

I’ve been soaking in Joshua this week.
Through it, Jesus has something He wants me to say to His church.

Last week,
the Father asked me to speak of the consequences to individual Christians         when they heartily approve of sin.

But as with all sin, the consequences go beyond the individual.

LEARNING THROUGH JOSHUA’S EXPERIENCE

Joshua began the journey into the promised land with a great word from the Lord:

Joshua 1:3 “ Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.”

We pick up the trip at Ai.
The English translation of “Ai” is sin.

The Lord of Hosts (Joshua 4:14) had just given Joshua and Israel victory at Jericho, a very large city with a purportedly impenetrable wall.

Joshua 6:20 So the people shouted, and  priests blew the trumpets; and when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout and the  wall fell down  flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight  ahead, and they took the city.

The Lord, through Joshua, commanded the people
to take nothing “under the ban” from the city:

Joshua 6:18 “But as for you, only keep yourselves from the things under the ban, so that you do not  covet them and  take some of the things under the ban, and make the camp of Israel accursed and bring trouble on it.”

The Hebrew for “under the ban” is 2764 cherem,
which means shut in,
things which should be utterly destroyed.
things over which the Lord has cast a net.

After the Lord’s great victory at Jericho,
Israel continued on to Ai.

The account of the battle at Ai:

Joshua 7:2   Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near  Beth-aven, east of Bethel, and said to them, “ Go up and spy out the land.” So the men went up and spied out Ai.

3 They returned to Joshua and said to him, “Do not let all the people go up; only about two or three thousand men need go up  to Ai; do not make all the people toil up there, for they are few.”

4 So about three thousand men from the people went up there, but  they fled  from the men of Ai.

5 The men of Ai struck down about thirty-six of their men, and pursued them  from the gate as far as Shebarim and struck them down on the descent, so the  hearts of the people melted and became as water.

After such a great victory over impenetrable Jericho,
why did a lesser foe defeat Israel?

In the beginning, the Lord told Joshua this:

Joshua 1:7 “Only be strong and very courageous;   be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may  have success wherever you go.”

Joshua had instructed the people not to sin —
do not covet and take what is under the ban.

Obedience equaled success (still does!).
No success at Ai meant something was wrong between Israel and her God.

Sin was in the camp,
and Israel was in trouble.

There was great fear among Israel’s enemies after the victory at Jericho.

But if Israel couldn’t defeat tiny Ai,
no one would fear Israel anymore.

So Joshua and the elders of Israel tore their clothes
and put dust on their heads (signs of mourning and humility)
and fell on their faces before the ark, the presence of the Lord,
just as Moses had done:

Joshua 7:6   Then Joshua  tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the LORD until the evening, both he and the elders of Israel; and  they put dust on their heads.

But the Lord responded in what seems at first to be a strange way:

Joshua 7:10   So the LORD said to Joshua, “Rise up! Why is it that you have fallen on your face?”

But was is not strange at all,
because the Lord intended for Joshua to judge the sin in the camp:

Joshua 7:11 “Israel has sinned, and  they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. And they have even taken some of the things under the ban and have both stolen and deceived. Moreover, they have also put them among their own things.”

No sin is hidden from God’s eyes.
God didn’t use a person’s name.
He said,  “Israel has sinned.”
We will soon see that just one person’s sin
affected the whole camp!

Joshua 7:12 “Therefore the  sons of Israel cannot stand before their enemies; they turn their  backs before their enemies, for they have become accursed. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy the things under the ban from your midst.”

Do you see?

Israel disobeyed the command NOT to take anything from Jericho.
Now she couldn’t stand against the enemy because of sin in the camp.
God would not be with her any more
unless she found and destroyed what was taken from Jericho.

But how would Joshua do that?
The Lord would reveal who it was through the drawing of lots.

(NOTE: God is in charge . . . this is not gambling or chance, but simply one of many methods God used in the Old Testament to guide Israel.)

Joshua 7:14 ‘In the morning then you shall come near by your tribes. And it shall be that the tribe which  the LORD takes by lot shall come near by families, and the family which the LORD takes shall come near by households, and the household which the LORD takes shall come near man by man.

Joshua 7:15 ‘ It shall be that the one who is taken with the things under the ban shall be burned with fire, he and all that belongs to him, because he has transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he  has committed a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”

What had been taken? Who had taken it?
The writer of Joshua reveals it in 7:1,
but it isn’t revealed to Joshua until 7:19 —

Joshua 7:1    But the sons of Israel acted unfaithfully in regard to the things under the ban, for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, took some of the things under the ban, therefore the anger of the LORD burned against the sons of Israel.

Joshua 7:19 Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, I implore you,  give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and give praise to Him; and tell me now what you have done. Do not hide it from me.”

Joshua 7:20 So Achan answered Joshua and said, “Truly, I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel, and  this is what I did:  21 when I saw among the spoil a beautiful mantle from Shinar and two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold fifty shekels in weight, then I  coveted them and took them; and behold, they are concealed in the earth inside my tent with the silver underneath it.”

Achan took what was pleasing to his eyes.
God wouldn’t mind.
Who would it hurt?

About thirty-six men died because Achan sinned (Joshua 7:5)!

But after Achan’s sin was judged:

Joshua 8:1   Now the LORD said to Joshua, “ Do not fear or be dismayed. Take all the people of war with you and arise, go up to Ai; see,  I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land.”

AND NOW, THE APPLICATION TO THE CHURCH

The Lord gave Ai (sin) into Israel’s hand.
The Lord will give sin and Satan into your hand, O Church,
if you deal with the sin in the camp!

Most of the church (at least in America) has been defeated by Ai (sin).
Many in the church perish because of sin.

The church has no power over sin,
even teaching that God can’t remove it from you,
so she lives in continual defeat,
sinning just as the world around her sins.

But if Israel couldn’t defeat Ai,
no one would fear her anymore, including Satan.
Do you see?
Satan doesn’t fear a sinning church.
And the church becomes his playground.

So much of the Church works from our own strength and courage,
rather than God’s.

When a Chinese missionary from the underground church in China
came to America
he was shown all its churches of thousands.

At the end of his trip, he was asked,
    “What impressed you the most?”
He replied, “How much you are able to do without God!”

Many ministries in America boast that they are rich and in need of nothing.

Jesus Christ replies:

Revelation 3:17 ‘Because you say, “ I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,

18 I advise you to  buy from Me  gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and  white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that  the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

19 ‘ Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and  repent.

Be purified. Be zealous. Repent.
Those Jesus loves, he reproves and disciplines.

Like Achan,
the church has something hidden under the ground in her tent.

It is sin.
It may be her coveting of gold and silver,
it may her coveting something beautiful to the eyes,
loving the things of this world —
That is selfishness, self-centeredness,
it is self-serving.

Loving the things of this world? Listen to the Spirit-inspire Apostle John:

1John 2:15   Do not love  the world nor the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1John 2:16 For all that is in the world,  the lust of the flesh and  the lust of the eyes and  the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.

17  The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who  does the will of God lives forever.

The church began with great victories in the Book of Acts.
Sin was quickly judged (Acts 5:1ff, Ananias and Sapphira).

But now, many Christians love the world and the church winks at sin.

Is the situation hopeless?

Will Satan, her great Enemy,
continue to defeat her and make a laughingstock of her?

The Lord says, O Church —

Joshua 7:13 “Rise up!  Consecrate the people and say, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, for thus the LORD, the God of Israel, has said, “ There are things under the ban in your midst, O Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you have removed the things under the ban from your midst.”

Set yourselves apart.
Gather in an assembly.
Find and remove the sin that keeps you from standing against Satan.

Until you do, O Church, you will not have victory against Satan.

Isaiah 52:11    Depart, depart, go out from there,
     Touch nothing unclean;
Go out of the midst of her,  purify yourselves,
You who carry the vessels of the LORD.

Purify yourselves!
Touch nothing unclean!
Go out of the midst of sin!

You may say, “That’s Old Testament.”
O scoffer, listen to what Paul says to the Corinthians,
who had sin in their camp!

2Corinthians 6:17 “ Therefore,  COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE,” says the Lord. “AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN; And I will welcome you . . .”

Just as the church at Corinth was troubled,
just as Israel was troubled at Ai,
so you are troubled, O Church!

What you have coveted
what you have hidden in the ground under your tent
is not hidden from God.

And it causes you to lose battles with Satan
and with sin!

A lesser foe has defeated you.

Sin is in the camp.

The anger of the Lord burns against you.

You have not judged the sin that’s in the camp (1Corinthians 5)
And so, even one individual’s sin affects the whole camp.
Therefore, the whole camp can’t stand against Satan.

THE REMEDY

Once Achan’s sin was judged, fire was used to purify the camp.

What fire do we have today,
rather than the literal fire applied to Achan
and his family and all he owned?

The fire of the Holy Spirit!

Our Joshua/Yeshua/Jesus has come!

Jesus Christ has come to apply fire to sin
and all of its tentacles!

The things in your midst,
even in the midst of your own heart, O Christian,
the things under the ban,
must be destroyed.

God does not want any to perish,
but all to come to repentance (see 2Peter 3:9).

Christ’s blood was shed for forgiveness AND purification!
He died for our sin,
He rose to give us resurrection life (born from above),
He ascended to heaven to provide the Purifier,
the Holy Spirit!

You have a Deliverer!

Do you not believe He can do it?

The Lord says that’s the problem.

It’s easier to claim you can’t be purified,
so you can go on doing the sin you love.
But your sin destroys you and many others.

REPENT!
SEEK OUT THE SIN IN THE CAMP!
ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO APPLY HIS PURIFYING FIRE!

Listen to the promise of God, if you will obey Jesus Christ today:

–God will go before you,
and God will be your rear guard (Isaiah 52:12).

–God will be your Father,
and you shall be sons and daughters to Him. (2Corinthians 6:18).

–The Lord will give Satan into your hand.

Joshua 1:3 “ Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.”

2Corinthians 7:1   Therefore, having these promises,  beloved,  let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

HALLELUJAH!

HEARTY APPROVAL OF SIN

God says, “I judge with an eye toward repentance;
I watch to see if you will turn to Me.”

“Hearty Approval of Sin”

This is a rebuke for the Church from the Lord, pure and simple.

God says, “I judge with an eye toward repentance;
I watch to see if you will turn to Me.”

Romans 1:21 (NIV)  For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Romans 1:22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools,

Romans 1:23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

[Today, they are their own gods, with their own desires ruling them, fashioning God into their own image, worshiping what their own hands have made.]

Romans 1:24 Therefore [because they suppressed/withheld the truth, verse 18,
here are the consequences]

God gave them over [3860 delivered them up, handed them over, gave them up, put them in prison]

in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity [He delivered them up to their own lusts which imprison them] for the degrading of their bodies with one another.

Romans 1:25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things [themselves]  rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Romans 1:26    Because of this,

God gave them over [3860 delivered them up, handed them over, gave them up, put them in prison] to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.

Romans 1:27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

Romans 1:28   Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over [3860 delivered them up, handed them over, gave them up, put them in prison] to a depraved mind [96 a mind rejected and morally worthless, a castaway, shipwrecked], to do what ought not to be done.

Three times, the Spirit-inspired Paul says “God gave them over!”
The Spirit repeats phrases to drive truth into our hearts!

Paul then describes the behavior of those with depraved minds:

Romans 1:29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,  30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;  31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

Romans 1:32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. [NASB “they give hearty approval” — a much more accurate translation! It is 4909 in Strong’s — loudly vigorous and cheerful approval of these things, being in union with the thinking of those who do such things.]

NOTE: Chapters were thoughtfully but sometimes incorrectly set by men; there are no chapters in the original text.

The beginning of Romans 2 should really be part of Romans 1. The “Therefore” in 2:1 shows that Paul is still on the same subject as in the first chapter of Romans.

Now, to the NASB . . .

Romans 2:1   Therefore you have  no excuse,   everyone of you who passes judgment for in that which  you judge another [that is, heartily approving of their sin],

you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things

The Spirit-inspired Paul means that giving hearty approval to ANY sin
is as bad as doing that sin yourself,
in God’s eyes.

Therefore, when you give hearty approval to sin,
you sin by encouraging sinners to remain under God’s wrath,
and you condemn yourself.
You encourage sinners to remain
on the broad and wide path to destruction.
You contribute to their eternal destruction
by not warning them.

God considers your hearty approval as sinful as homosexuality!

B.H. Clendennen once said that in hell, everyone is bent over in woe. But some crawl about, lifting others’ heads, saying “No, that’s not the one. No, that’s not the one.” They’re looking for the pastor or pew-sitter who encouraged them to continue to sin.

Romans 2:2 And we know that the judgment of God  rightly falls upon those who practice such things.

So they are under judgment, and you encourage them to remain there.

Romans 2:3 But do you suppose this,  O man,  when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself  [encouraging them to continue in their sin] that you will escape the judgment of God?

Therefore, you who are being “tolerant” and “loving”
are helping Satan populate hell.
And you will not escape the judgment of God.

NOW THE LORD SPEAKS TO BOTH THE SINNER AND THE ONE WHO ENCOURAGES HIM TO CONTINUE IN IT:

Romans 2:4 Or do you think lightly of  the riches of His  kindness and  tolerance and  patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

God says, “I judge with an eye toward repentance;
I watch to see if you will turn to Me.”

Romans 2:5 But  because of your stubbornness [4643 callousness against the conviction of the Holy Spirit]

and unrepentant heart [279 one that refuses to turn away from sin and toward God]

you are storing up wrath for yourself  in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,  6  who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS . . . (Jeremiah 17:10)
—————————————————————————————————

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who  call evil good, and good evil;
Who   substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who  substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Lamentations 2:14 Your  prophets have seen for you
False and foolish visions;
And they have not  exposed your iniquity
So as to restore you from captivity,
But they have  seen for you false and misleading  oracles.

Jeremiah 23:16   Thus says the LORD of hosts,
“ Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are prophesying to you.
They are  leading you into futility;
They speak a  vision of their own  imagination,
Not  from the mouth of the LORD.
17 “They keep saying to those who  despise Me, [by sinning against Me]
‘The LORD has said, “ You will have peace”’;
And as for everyone who walks in the  stubbornness of his own heart,
They say, ‘ Calamity will not come upon you.’
18 “But  who has stood in the council of the LORD,
That he should see and hear His word?
Who has given  heed to  His word and listened? . . .
21 “ I did not send these prophets,
But they ran.
I did not speak to them,
But they prophesied.
22 “But if they had  stood in My council,
Then they would have  announced My words to My people,
And would have turned them back from their evil way
And from the evil of their deeds.

The Lord says, “Once again My people are being misled,
but they themselves are responsible to know the truth.

“The Word of God is available to all, but no one cares to read My words.

“And I have sent My prophets to them, but they vilify them and persecute them, just as in the days of Isaiah and Jeremiah.”

Jeremiah 25:3 “From the  thirteenth year of  Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day,  these  twenty-three years the word of the LORD has come to me, and I have spoken to you   again and again, but you have not listened.  4 “And the LORD has sent to you all His  servants the prophets  again and again, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear, 5 to listen to the words of  My servants the prophets, whom I have been sending to you  again and again, but you have not listened . . .

God’s Holy Spirit searches your heart today!

Jeremiah 17:10        “I the LORD search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward a man according to his conduct,
according to what his deeds deserve.”
—————————————————————————————————-

O leaders of the Church, O Christian,
the Lord’s promise to you is this
IF you make Him the One you praise,
if you who sin turn to Him while it is still today,
if you who encourage sin turn away from doing so:

Jeremiah 17:14  Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed;
Save me and I will be saved,
For You are my  praise.

He will come to you,
He will heal you,
He will save you,
He will cleanse you,
He will free you,
He will fill you with His Holy Spirit!

But FIRST, you must TURN!
The Lord grieves over the naming and claiming of His promises
by the disobedient!

The Lord grieves over what we do in the name of  “love” and “tolerance.”

He grieves over those who teach such things!

TURN, and He will heal you, BUT NOT UNTIL YOU TURN.
