Fired up jars of clay, those who have been through God’s kiln, will not crumble or leak, but are ready to contain all the fullness of God!

“Fired Up Jars of Clay”
O Lord, you asked me to further speak of jars of clay today, and showed me something altogether lovely!
The inheritance, and where it is kept
(Background: Babylon was about to breach the walls of Jerusalem,
raid the Temple, burn the city,
and take the Jews into captivity for the 70 years prescribed by the Lord.)
In verse 14, the Lord told Jeremiah to place the deed
for the land he bought from Hanamel —
the inheritance —
in a jar of clay so that it would last a long time.
This jar of clay had to go through a kiln (an oven) —
and baked at very high heat —
Fired up so it wouldn’t crumble or leak.
In the same way, the Lord commands us
to be fired-up jars of clay,
able hold the evidence that we have His inheritance,
the deed to His kingdom —
the evidence is the Holy Spirit of promise.
And we last the same 70 years as the exile,
or 80 if we are especially vigorous (see Psalm 90:10),
as the evidence, the witness of Christ.
Fired-up jars of clay
have within them the evidence, the deed for the inheritance!
Ephesians 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation — having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge [payment in advance] of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession [those who love Jesus Christ], to the praise of His glory.
The evidence of our inheritance,
our deed to the kingdom,
in our bodies,
made fired-up jars of clay by Father God!
2Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;
This surpassing greatness —
beyond all comparison —
in a jar of clay?
His power, His dunamis, His miracle-working —
in a jar of clay?
Healing, raising, cleansing, casting out —
but even more, personal transformation (3339 metamorphoo) —
filled with the light of God, for all to see!
His light, His life, His love, His justice,
His righteousness, His holiness, in a jar of clay!
Why does He place His Spirit in fired-up jars of clay?
So that in all that we do, God’s power and not ours will be evident.
It is the very dying of Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:10),
the Holy Spirit,
the treasure in a fired-up jar of clay,
from which Christ’s life is
manifested, made visible, revealed, made clear.
This dying of Jesus, this Holy Spirit,
is evidence that we are partakers — sharers — of the divine nature,
the inheritance, the deed giving us access to the Promised Land.
2Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
Jars of clay filled with God have suffered in the flesh — they have gone through God’s kiln!
1Peter 4:1 Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
Galatians 5:24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
And we are thus made fit vessels, no leaks or crumbling,
having been molded and shaped, and put into the fire of suffering —
God’s kiln —
dying to all we are so Christ lives through us!
Jars of clay filled with God have crucified (4717) the flesh —
the past tense means it is done!
To crucify is to impale on the cross;
that happens in a moment in time,
after the molding and shaping,
when we are put in the fire of God’s kiln
to make us fit for His work!
But what is happening in the church today?
Is she composed of fired-up jars of clay?
I sound the trumpet,
for the Lord shows me the church is full of
deeds of the flesh:
Galatians 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
The deeds of the flesh —
evidence that some have not yet crucified the flesh,
have not yet suffered in the flesh and died to sin,
have not become fired-up jars of clay,
have not yet gone through God’s kiln,
are not yet filled with the treasure,
the inheritance, the deed, the Holy Spirit!
It is time to crucify the flesh, O church,
so you have within your jar of clay
the evidence of His inheritance,
the deed to His kingdom, the Holy Spirit,
and you WILL be Christ’s witness here.
The Lord never corrects
without providing the way
to come into agreement with Him.
If you will agree, He will change you.
You have sinned against God,
but there is no clay that is so marred that God cannot
mold and shape and fire it up in His kiln,
and make it into a container for Him!
If you will agree with Him on your spiritual condition,
that you are still doing the deeds of the flesh
and have not crucified them,
He will apply His hands to you,
and He will apply His fiery baptism of the Holy Spirit,
And you will be transformed into a fired-up jar of clay
filled with all the fullness of God,
a walking, talking witness that Christ is real.
