The Lord commands me to speak frankly — He commands intimacy from you, that you be glued to Christ, clinging. adhering, catching by pursuing, following hard after, overtaking and sticking!

“Glued to Jesus”

Some may blanch at my title and call it irreverent.
But now that I have your attention,
listen to what the Lord says in His Word about King Hezekiah:

2Kings 18:3  He did right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father David had done.  4  He removed the high places and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the  Asherah. He also broke in pieces  the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it; and it was called  Nehushtan.  5  He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel;  so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him.  6 For he  clung to the LORD; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD had commanded Moses.

Why did he do right (3477, straight, upright in heart) in God’s eyes?

Why did he remove all idolatry?

Why did he trust in the Lord?

Verse 6 — For (because) he clung to the Lord.

The word “clung” in the original Hebrew is dabaq (1692), and it means:

Cling, adhere, catch by pursuit:
follow hard after, be joined together,
overtake, pursue hard, and stick!!
The noun form of this word is “glue.”

Dabaq is used of marriage, loyalty and devotion. Intimacy!
It is the most intense form of intimacy, and that’s what God wants to get at today —     holy intimacy with His people!

Again, I ask:

Why was Hezekiah upright in heart, in God’s eyes?

Why did he remove all idolatry?

Why did he trust in the Lord?

Because he clung to Him like glue, intimately entwined with Him!

And what other fruit was there from being glued to the Lord?

Verse 6 again — he kept His commandments (watching, obeying, observing) and he followed Him.

Glory! If we are glued to Jesus, we will do the same and more,
because the Holy Spirit has come to fill us up!
Hezekiah did not have that privilege.

Then God’s righteousness is IN us, and we are upright in heart.

Then we remove all idols from our own hearts,
because we love the Lord and Him only,
with His love that is IN us!

Then we trust in the Lord, no matter what comes or goes,
because we experience Him every moment of every day,
within our very hearts!
He lives there!

Where are you living, O church, O Christian! The Lord shows me that you are far from Him! I grieve because He is grieved, I weep, I pray.

In order to be glued to Jesus, we must be soft and pliable —
the Lord seeks these things in His people,
but He does not find them in most who are in the church.
He finds hard glue, stiff necks, wandering hearts.

Psalms 37:4  Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will  give you the desires of your heart.
5  Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
6 He will bring forth  your righteousness as the light
And your judgment as the noonday.

Delight yourself in the Lord — make yourself soft and pliable (6026)!

His grace is here for you.
If you trust Him, He will do it.
You will shine like a star in the universe,
holding forth the word of life (Philippians 2:15-16)!

If  you’re soft and pliable,
you can wrap yourself around the Lord
and become entwined with Him,
glued to Jesus,
O wandering church!

Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who  wait for the LORD
Will  gain new strength;
They will   mount up with  wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.

“Wait” — that means “be bound together by twisting” (6960)!
Be entwined!
If you become soft and pliable,
you will do it!

Psalms 91:1   He who dwells in the  shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the  shadow of the Almighty.

Dwell (3427), settle down, marry!  Again, intimacy!

All of the promises of that beautiful Psalm
are for those who stick like glue to the Father and the Son,
because the Holy Spirit has come in
and made you pliable and soft
and able to be entwined in holy intimacy with God!

Ephesians 5:25    Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and  gave Himself up for her,  26  so that He might sanctify her, having  cleansed her by the  washing of water with  the word,  27 that He might  present to Himself the church  in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be  holy and blameless.

Jesus’ design and plan is for holy intimacy, for marriage —
He seeks a bride!

He is the Bridegroom, as He says in Matthew 9:15 and Mark 2:19,
and so does John the Baptist, in John 3:29.

The church is His bride,
but does a bride leave her beloved at the altar
after the marriage vows have been spoken?

Yet that is what has happened to many in the church.
Jesus is waiting for you!

How He has longed to gather you as a hen gathers her chicks!
O church, do not let your house be left to you desolate! (Luke 13:34-35)

Oh, that you may know!

Ephesians 3:14   For this reason I  bow my knees before the Father,  15 from whom  every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,  16 that He would grant you, according to  the riches of His glory, to be  strengthened with power through His Spirit in  the inner man,  17 so that  Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being  rooted and  grounded in love,  18 may be able to comprehend with  all the  saints what is  the breadth and length and height and depth,  19 and
to know  the love of Christ which  surpasses knowledge, that you may be  filled up to all the  fullness of God.

Be filled up with God!
Ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit,
and He will do it!

Then you will:

Be upright in heart, in God’s eyes

Remove all idolatry

Trust in the Lord

You will be glued to Jesus!

Church, come unglued from the world!

Become soft and pliable,
able to be entwined with the Lord in holy intimacy,
by asking Him to fill you with His Spirit and His love.

Then you will cling, adhere, catch by pursuit:
follow hard after, be joined together,
overtake, pursue hard, and stick!!

You will not stray,
and you will become His witnesses here.

AND THEN . . .
Many will come to salvation because you will be like a beacon to them,
the very light of the world,
a city on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14)!
Then you will sup with Christ and Christ with you —
O church, come to His table!
He will fill you up!

This is a limited time offer —
seek Him while He may be found,
call on Him while he is near (Isaiah 55:6)!
