“The Gift WHO Keeps On Giving”
[These notes are brief. There is so much more in the video of this message! The links are to the right of this post, on my blog.]
Texts: Isaiah 53, Philippians 2
A gift is not earned, but freely given. Jesus Christ has given you the gift of Himself, and He keeps on giving. Will you believe Him?
Now I know full well that Jesus Christ was likely born at the time of the Feast of Tabernacles, in the fall. But December 25th is the modern church’s observance of Christ’s birth. And today, while it is still TODAY, I speak to the modern church, and to the world (see Hebrews 3:7). Will you hear His voice?
Isaiah 53:1 says, “Who will believe our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” Who will believe the message that Jesus Christ is the Gift of God to the world? To that one who believes the message, God’s power to save will be revealed. Who will believe the message that Jesus Christ is a Heart Changer who sets sinners free from slavery to sin, and makes them saints, when He fills them with His Holy Spirit? To that one who believes the message, God’s power to fill that heart with the Holy Spirit will be revealed.
Do you believe today? I am speaking to the church, and to the world. If you believe, Jesus will show you that He is real, and a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him!
What did He give? Why did Jesus come? Some are taught that He came to do good things, even to make us rich and successful. God help them, and the ones who teach such things!
Here is what He gave, and keeps on giving:
— He came to take the punishment you deserved for your sin. He came to move you from being under God’s wrath to being a child of God. Do you believe the message? Then He will show you that it is true, by working it in you.
— And He came to purify your heart when you are filled with His Spirit, so you no longer willfully disobey God. So, He gives you life, and then, He commands that you be filled with His Spirit so your chains to sin fall off, PERMANENTLY! When we are filled with His Spirit, we die to sin. Our rebellious, sinful nature dies, and we become partakers of His divine nature and bear His fruit. How can we continue to live in sin, if we have died to it (Romans 6:2)? Do you believe the message? Then He will show you that it is true, by working it in you.
He bore our sicknesses and pains on the earth (verse 4), confirmed by Matthew 8:17. Thus it was fulfilled! He is still doing that, too, because He is the same yesterday and today and forever! Do you believe the message? Then He will show you that it is true, by working it in you.
But when Jesus hung on a cross, many considered Him to be smitten by God, to be punished by Him for who-knows-what. He certainly couldn’t be God’s Son, because if He was, God would rescue Him! But it was God’s plan from before the foundation of the earth, and He had prepared a lamb — Jesus Christ (Revelation 13:8). He had to die, He had to be sacrificed on our behalf. Do you believe the message? Then He will show you that it is true, by working it in you.
And His arms are still reaching out today. He is the Gift Who keeps on giving! He still says to the lost, “Come to Me!” (Matthew 11:28-30). I will remove the burden of your sin, the sin you draw behind you with cart ropes. And you will take my yoke, and you will learn Me, and you will find rest, the true rest of God, the sabbatismos where you don’t TRY to be good — He makes you good, on the inside (Hebrews 4:9) Do you believe the message? Then He will show you that it is true, by working it in you.
His arms are still reaching out today, to the lost, and to the church that gives mental assent that Jesus Christ is real. He reaches out to the church that is full of sin, and says, “Come to Me! I’ll purify you!” (See Acts 15:9.) Do you believe the message? Then He will show you that it is true, by working it in you.
He is the Gift that keeps on giving, freely giving. But the cost to Him was beyond imagining. In Philippians 2:5-11, look at the attitude of Jesus’ heart:
— Jesus says, I will do anything the Father asks Me to do, regardless of the pain I must endure. I know that He does not desire any to perish, but all to come to repentance (2Peter 3:9). Know that “repentance” is not, “I’m sorry,” but you go on sinning the same sin. No! It is, I see my sinful heart, and I need You to forgive me and change my heart and fill me with You!”
—Jesus says, It does not make any difference what the cost. I was seated at Your right hand, in glory (John 17:5). But I emptied Myself of all that, and humbled Myself, even to the point of dying naked on a cross. I was not concerned with the shame of it, knowing the debt of sin would be paid by it, and Satan defeated by My cross (Colossians 2:14-15).
— Jesus says, I emptied Myself of the glory I had with You, Father. It was worth it, it was worth everything, so whosoever believed in Me would be reconciled to You!
We must do the same, we must be humble, we must know that we are sinners in need of a Savior, and then Christians in need of the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
Do you believe the message? Then He will show you that it is true, by working it in you.
I tell you, the day will come when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, on earth and in heaven. Do not mistake this to mean that those who reject Jesus will be saved! That is a lie from the pit of hell.
My knee is permanently bowed already. But when those who reject Him stand before Him, they will know that He is real, and they will bow their knee and confess that Jesus is Lord, before they are sentenced to the lake of fire. Judgment is coming! My knee and those of all the former sinners that are now saints will bow, and even those who rejected Him will bow their knee! They will no longer be able to deny that He is Lord!
Christians are distracted at this time of year. Presents, Santa, parties, all the world’s stuff. We will give our ugly Christmas sweaters to the needy, to keep them warm. The gifts we love will become moth-eaten, they will rust and rot (Matthew 16:19-21). What treasure does your heart seek?
But seek Him, and His treasure — the treasure of being saved from the wrath of God, and then filled with His Holy Spirit, just as He commands! These are eternal treasures! These are the means by which you become His ambassadors in this world. Do you believe the message? Then He will show you that it is true, by working it in you.
