DECEIVED

“Deceived”

Many are deceived into thinking that they can continue sinning, after they have become church members.

Matthew 7:21-23 — Many (Greek “most”)! As they stand before Jesus Christ to be judged, many will say to Him, “Lord, Lord,” as if they knew Him and even more, as if He knew them. But they will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Why? They did not do the Father’s will. Heaven is for those who do His Father’s will.

Many will say, “Didn’t we? Didn’t we? Didn’t we?” Their miracles, signs and wonders cannot be of God, for Jesus says in verse 23, “I never (Greek: never, not at any time, not at all) knew you.” If He does not know them, it is impossible to do His miracles.

But we did them “in Your name,” Jesus. You used His name, but if He never knew  you, then you do not have His character, and God does not hear the prayers of sinners (John 9:31).

He declares to you that He never knew you, and He condemns you to eternity without Him, to the never-ending flames of hell. Why? You practice lawlessness. Practice means you do it. “Lawlessness” means “wickedness, contrary to God’s will, unrighteousness, sin.” John says lawlessness is sin, in 1John 3:5.

If you are already assembling scriptures to contradict Jesus, I challenge you that you are trying to justify yourself before God. So repent!

Many will say that Jesus’ blood covers all sins, past, present and future. But what does Hebrews 10:26 and 29 tell us? If we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, we no longer have access to Christ’s sacrifice. We have trampled underfoot the blood of Christ.

You may say, “That was just for the Hebrews, who were considering returning to Judaism.” But it agrees with Jesus’ words in Matthew 7, so it is for everyone.

The Word of God says Christians are to be “formerlies!”

Ephesians 2:1 — You WERE

Ephesians 2:2-3 — Formerly (twice)

Ephesians 5:8 — Darkness, now Light, IN THE LORD

Colossians 1:21 — WERE alienated, hostile, doing evil deeds

1Timothy 1:13 — Paul himself FORMERLY blasphemed, persecuted, violently aggressive, ignorant, unbelieving

1Corinthians 6:11 — Such WERE

1Peter 1:14 — FORMER lusts

1Peter 1:15-16 — Be holy for I am holy, says the Lord. Sin is not holiness. Sin separates you from God (Isaiah 59:1-2), and the wages of it is death (Romans 6:23

1 Peter 2:25 — You WERE straying

Romans 6:1-2 — Shall we continue to sin so grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who have died to sin continue to live in it?

Many will throw Romans 7 at me. But Romans 7 is a wretched condition, per verse 24! There is NO evidence in the Word that we are to remain wretched after becoming Christians!

You have been deceived, and it is by your own doing, though I understand that many teach that you can’t stop sinning.

But you have the Word of God in your hands! Is it from laziness, just going along with what the preacher says, whether or not he is also deceived? If you are truly Jesus’ disciples, you will continue in His word, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free from slavery to sin (John 8:31-36).

Is it possible that you enjoy your sin, and therefore gather to yourself those teachers who will make you feel good about it (1Timothy 4:3)? Paul says it is possible. Examine yourself, to see if you are in the faith, Paul exhorts the church in Corinth (2Corinthians 13:5). I exhort you today, also!

But how can you stop sinning? First, be saved! If you are still sinning, the scriptures that I’ve just cited reveal that you have never been converted to Christianity, but have said some words at an altar or in a prayer somewhere, but your heart remains dark. Believers in Jesus Christ hate sin, and try not to sin.

But they learn that their hearts are wayward, despite their best efforts. They are like the man of Romans 7. And thanks be to God, He offers freedom from slavery to sin, also through Jesus Christ.

It is not only God’s will that you come to Jesus Christ to be saved from God’s wrath, but also that you be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18)! Then you are holy as He is holy, filled with His very holiness and character and righteousness!

Believe Jesus Christ who says He has the power to set you free from slavery to sin! God would never command you unless He gave you the way to be set free.

Suffer in the flesh, die to self, be crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20), and you will live the rest of the time in the flesh (earthly body) no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God (1Peter 4:1-2)!

But how?

Ephesians 3:16 — The power that will set you free, Christian!

— From past sin, by the blood of Jesus Christ  (THIS is God’s gift to you)

— From sinfulness, by His Spirit! THIS is God’s will for you — be filled with the Spirit, and He will purify your heart (Acts 15:9)!

You may reject my words, but they are from the Lord and according to God’s Word. I come to you in the love of God, that you may be warned of the wrath to come, and receive God’s truth. I want no person to come before Jesus and be surprised to hear, “I never knew you!” So now, you will not be surprised. And if you heed these words, you will enter the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
